The AXS TV concert series returns to The Sunset Strip bringing the “world’s greatest tribute bands” to the Whisky A Go-Go each and every Tuesday.  This week don’t miss a tribute to Elvis by renowned Sin City impersonator Justin Shandor.  Doors open at 6 p.m.  and admission is free with RSVP.


Wednesday, Sept. 10 legendary singer/percussionist Sheila E. stops by Book Soup to sign copies of her new revealing memoir The Beat of My Own Drum.  Having collaborated with the who’s who of music legends – Ringo Star, Prince and Beyoncé – the Grammy Award-nominated artist has plenty of colorful material to draw on from four plus decades in the biz.  Signing/discussion starts at 7 p.m.  Admission is free.

PICK OF THE WEEK: And later in the evening, head a few blocks west to The Roxy Theatre for night one (Wednesday and Thursday) of two sold out shows with the ear bleedingly awesome, underground art rock pioneers – Swans.  Doors open at 8 p.m. for both nights.

Saturday, Sept. 13 don’t miss all-star punk rock supergroup Dead Men Walking featuring Captain Sensible (The Damned), Mike Peters (The Alarm), Slim Jim Phantom (The Stray Cats) and Chris Cheney (The Living End).  Plus, as if that wasn’t enough, Matt Sorum’s Darling Stilettos close out the night with their sexy rock n’ roll burlesque.  Doors open at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $15 GA.
