Construction is moving full steam ahead this week as crews are busy prepping and repairing the boulevard. Sunset Boulevard will be reduced down to one lane in each direction between San Vicente Boulevard and the border of Beverly Hills during work hours – Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please remember to support your local businesses! All are open during construction.

In addition, one eastbound lane of Sunset will be closed 24 hours a day from Wednesday, June 16 through Saturday, June 19 as a bus pads at San Vicente Boulevard and Hammond Street are poured. All lanes will be open by Saturday morning.

Starting Sunday, June 20 the contractor will begin grinding off the top surface of the existing roadway and preparing the base layer of asphalt a few days later. This work is required to be done at night due to mitigations by the Regional Air Quality Management District. Based on lessons learned from the previous sections already completed, they are requiring crews to work at night, when traffic volumes are lower and there are less vehicles kicking up dust into the air. This work is to be done Sunday through Thursday June 20 – 24, starting from San Vicente working westward. Work hours are 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The contractor will continue to fix sidewalks and curbs between San Vicente Blvd and the west City limit. Work includes taking out the broken and damaged concrete, then replacing it with new sidewalk. Also included in this work is the installation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant ramps at the corners of the intersections.

The lane lines and traffic markings on the newly paved street will continue to be installed during the daytime between Alta Loma Road and San Vicente Boulevard.

The contractor will also work on installing new storm drains for the medians at the west City entrance to The Sunset Strip.
