The Sunset Strip is packing up and heading east to Austin, Texas, for five days of music, comedy and lots of barbecue, queso and margaritas during SXSW! Are you going? Grab your boots, stop by and say howdy!

Sunset Strip venues The Roxy Theatre and The Comedy Store will roll into town to host multiple nights of entertainment in Austin. The Roxy is bringing the best of L.A. to the Lone Star state, when they take over the Rusty Spurs venue (405 E 7th Street) on March 16 and 17 for their SXSW “AUSTINROX” party, showcasing some of The Strip’s top talent. Lineups include:

  • Wednesday, March 16: Performances by Deep Dark Robot featuring Linda Perry, Johnny Polygon and Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) alum Tender Box, Awolnation, Vanaprasta and Pigeons featuring Cisco Adler. The Rusty Spurs Lounge (aka Black and Tan) will feature performances by Olin & The Moon, Locksley, Hot Panda, Brite Futures and Blue Scholars.
  • Thursday, March 17: Performances by Fitz & The Tantrums, Lenka and SSMF alum Neon Trees, Semi Precious Weapons, Andy Grammer and Wicker. The Rusty Spurs Lounge (aka Black and Tan) will feature Hands, Ferocious Few, Queen Caveat, Novocaines and Sabrosa Purr. (For full details and schedule times, visit schedule.sxsw.com. Presented in partnership with Swing House Recording.)

The Comedy Store will headline its presence at SXSW with a panel at the Interactive Conference titled "Social Media and Comedy:F**k Yeah!" with comedy experts Kambri Crews (producer/publicist, Ballyhoo Promotions), Alf LaMont (VP of marketing, The Comedy Store), Jordan Ellner (director of Jokes.com, Atom.com), comedian Marc Maron and Sean McCarthy (editor/publisher, The Comic’s Comic). The discussion takes place Sunday, March 13 at 3:30 p.m. at the Hyatt. And as part of the journey to SXSW, The Comedy Store is bringing four up-and-coming comedians who will be performing at the legendary Cap City Comedy Club in Austin. In addition, The Comedy Store comics will provide entertainment and support at the various Sunset Strip events at the Rusty Spurs and beyond. Follow @TheComedyStore on Twitter for updates.

Those attending the conference and festival from March 14-17 should stop by The Sunset Strip lounge (booths 523&525, next to the Meet Up Pavilion) at the Austin Convention Center, presented by the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau, City of West Hollywood and the Sunset Strip Business Association. Rest your weary feet and enjoy a photo gallery featuring some of the top performances on The Strip as captured by photographers Genie Sanchez, Erik Voake, Andrew Herrold, Wendy Bird and NAte Christenson. The lounge will also hold daily drawings for Sunset Strip Music Festival VIP ticket giveaways as well as the opportunity to meet with festival organizers, comedians from The Comedy Store and representatives from the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau and The Roxy Theatre.

Additionally, many artists that have performed in Sunset Strip venues – Key Club, The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room, House of Blues Sunset Strip, Cat Club and Whisky A Go-Go – are also taking the stage at SXSW. Below is a list of some ‘Sunset Strip’ artists performing. For full details and schedule, visit schedule.sxsw.com. (* Indicates Sunset Strip Music Festival alum.)
