Tonight check out the weekly hilarity at The Comedy Store Potluck.  One of the club’s oldest traditions, the night starts with an open mic show, followed by friends and family, and ends with pop-ins from national headliners.  With The Store’s long history of breaking comics, you never know who is going to stop by and deliver a few impromptu laughs.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m.  Admission is free before 9:00 p.m.


Tuesday, Aug. 26 longtime TV personality Pat O’Brien (CBS Sports, Access Hollywood, The Insider) signs his new tell-all memoir, I’ll Be Back Right After This at Book Soup.  Having interviewed the who’s who of celebrities, politicians, sports stars and the rich and famous, O’Brien had plenty of material to draw on from for this can’t put down read.  Signing/discussion starts at 7 p.m.  Admission is free.


How exactly does one do “the safety dance?”  Find out this Wednesday, Aug. 27 when the legendary Whisky A Go-Go presents 80’s new wave, one-hit wonders Men Without Hats.  That’s right, get your flashback fill, as you fondly reminisce about snazzy times in stirrup stretch pants.  Doors open at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $20 GA.


Return to Book Soup this Thursday, Aug. 28 for a meet & greet signing with musician turned author Carla Harvey. One half of the duo that forms the female fronted Butcher Babies, Harvey’s new semi-autobiographical novel, Death and Other Dances traces the story of her struggle from humble beginnings in Detroit to finding her true calling in L.A. as a mortician.  Event starts at 7 p.m.  Admission is free.


This Friday, Aug. 29 ride that “Highway to Hell” straight to The Viper Room for Bonfire (Get it?!), “the most badass tribute to AC/DC,” plus special guests Fire The Animal and The Sahns.  Doors open at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $10 GA.
