Your summer of movies on The Sunset Strip continues!  This week, Dive in Theatre at Skybar presents nostalgic childhood fav The Princess Bride and The Rainbow Bar and Grill will be screening Down and Out in Beverly Hills for their Dinner and a Movie selection.  Both films start at 8 p.m.


Tuesday, June 30

The Roxy Theatre presents two-time Grammy-nominated R&B vocalist and superstar songwriter Luke James.  Doors open at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $25 GA.


Wednesday, July 1

The world famous Comedy Store hosts their 4th Annual Canada Day Comedy Show.  This Canadian birthday celebration hosted by Angelo Tsarouchas (Just for Laughs) will feature a surprise, won’t be revealed till show day, star-studded lineup of Canadian born comedians of stage and screen.  Doors open at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $20 presale/$30 at the door.


Thursday, July 2

Celebrate your freedom to shop late night (with cocktails) when Skybar at Mondrian hosts a special Independence Weekend version of their monthly poolside pop up – Full Moon Bazaar.  Enjoy a live performance by Katie Welch, sounds by LOLA Langus and LYFGRDS, plus shop the finest in upscale boutique brands.   Event starts at 8 p.m.  RSVP is


Friday, July 3

Kick off freedom weekend with your choice of top notch tribute bands:

Whisky A Go-Go presents Wild Child the ultimate Doors experience.  Show starts at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $27 GA presale.

The Viper Room presents a double bill of tributarians featuring Fan Halen plus Mötley Crüe’d.  Doors open at 9 p.m.  Tickets are $15 GA.


Independence Day Weekend

This July 4th A Club Called Rhonda sets up shop at Skybar for the second, of three fiercely funtastic summer parties, they’re calling, Rhondesia.  Dance the day away poolside to the internationally renowned sounds of Robert Owens, Till Von Sein, Trus’me, Nadastrom, Lloydski and Goddollars & Paradise.  Event runs from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Tickets are $25 GA or get a special discounted package with a room reservation at the Mondrian.  

The Standard hosts their own equally impressive Independence Day celebration hosted by Kitsuné (the ultra hip French electronic music label) co-founder Gildas Loaëc.  Enjoy poolside sounds courtesy of Phases, Lonely Boy, Ricoshëi and Dutch Party.  Event starts at 1 p.m. RSVP recommended.

On a more casual note, State Social House will be grilling up freedom all day long on their patio with an old school, backyard style bbq menu featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, bbq chicken sandwiches and bbq chicken wings with sides of potato salad, coleslaw, watermelon and all the classic fixin’s.  No cover from open to close.
