It’s officially summer and nights on The Strip are starting to heat up! Having just announced The Smashing Pumpkins as the headliners of the 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival on Aug. 28, the clubs are gearing up for another season of sweet ass shows.  Here’s what’s happening this week…


On Monday, June 21 weekly institution Steel Panther return to their home turf at the Key Club. Come party with the satiric cover heroes at this homecoming show featuring support acts Delta Rose and Outlett. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $18 – $20.  This event is 18+.


Tuesday, June 22 The Roxy Theatre presents former Playboy Playmate and “Penny Lane” inspiration Bebe Buell. This West Coast record release party celebrates the launch of Buell’s latest musical effort Sugar. Hosted by Giddle Partridge, the night will feature Gary Myrick & The Figures, Model/Actress, Antony Langdon of Spacehog, and plenty of surprises and giveaways. Don’t miss this nostalgic celeb-fest SNAFU. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 advance/$12 day of show.


PICK OF THE WEEK: Wednesday, June 23 it’s the fourth and final installment of the Ashes Divide residency at the Viper Room. Last week the place was packed like sardines and this week’s show promises to be even bigger. The killer lineup is set to include Abandoned Pools, Mankind Is Obsolete, and rumors are already circulating about a return of last week’s super-secret special guest. Get there early and sweat it out to some great music. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 advance/$15 at the door.


Since the King of Pop is currently unavailable, the Key Club has been thoughtful enough to bring you the next best thing. Thursday, June 24 renowned MJ tribute band Who’s Bad? will transform the Key Club into a choreographed knife-less knife fight/dance-off as they plow through a career’s worth of hits with a blaring horn section and synchronized dance routines. It’ll be more fun than a dose of Propofol. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 – $18 (Note: There is a nonalcoholic two drink minimum for all under age 21).


Friday, June 25 the Viper Room presents bourgeois performance art band Miss Derringer. Fronted by underground artist Elizabeth McGrath, the band’s vintage country, pop sound always brings in a crowd. Also on the bill Drugstore Fanatics, featuring Koichi Fukuda of StaticX, and Ecotronic. Doors open at 8:30 P.M. Tickets are $10 advance/$15 at the door.


Saturday, June 26 The Roxy Theatre presents a stacked bill of skate punk trouble makers. The night features Authority Zero, The Pricks, Phantom and Majority Lost and brings together some of the best from all corners of the punk rock genre. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are a couch change collecting $12.


Celebrate the longer days of summer poolside on Sunday, June 27 with bubbles and brunch at SkyBar. Cocktails, summer-inspired menu and bikinis.
