Dine And Dash With Warner Drive

Dine And Dash With Warner Drive

Local legends and Sunset Strip Music Festival alum Warner Drive will take the stage at The Roxy Theatre on Friday, Feb. 25, to celebrate the release of their new album, K-Go! Their first full length in almost four years, The Sunset Strip staples are poised to unleash their brand new recording – featuring an all new lineup – on the unsuspecting rock n’ roll masses.

To fuel up for their big CD release party, the band – Jonny Law (vocals), Albert Winkler (guitar), Candice Levinson (guitar), Elvis James (bass) and Jonny U (drums) – hit another staple on The Strip, Duke’s West Hollywood, for some late night burgers, grilled cheese and brews. Now open until 4 a.m. on weekends (Thursday-Saturday), Duke’s has become the place for revelers to recoup after a night of debauchery on The Sunset Strip.

The Strip Is On Fire Tonight

The Strip Is On Fire Tonight

Tonight, acclaimed indie dance-pop group Friendly Fires is taking over The Sunset Strip with not just one, but two shows on the boulevard. The magic begins at The Roxy Theatre as the band headlines a night of music that also features sets from favorites Superhumanoids and the always enjoyable Foster The People.

Francis And The Lights Kick Off The Strip’s Best Nighttime Pool Party

Francis And The Lights Kick Off The Strip’s Best Nighttime Pool Party

The Skybar pool deck may seem like an unlikely music venue for most, but a crowd of well-mannered, indie music devotees were packed poolside on Jan. 14 to enjoy a great night of music with New York-based ’80s throwback band Francis And The Lights as part of Mondrian Sessions live music series.

Francis And The Lights, who recently toured with pals MGMT, jump-started the 2011 series appropriately with songs like "In a Limousine" and "Get in the Car." The crowd was into it – swaying along to every note. Mojitos, an unseasonably hot winter night and sweeping views of the city added to the swanky late night pool party scene.

The series continues Friday, Feb. 11 when L.A. natives Fool’s Gold perform, weaving together Western pop aesthetics with African rhymes and melodies. That performance is then followed by Ted Leo, Dum Dum Girls, Lykke Li and more!

Mondrian Sessions Music Series Relaunches Tonight

Mondrian Sessions Music Series Relaunches Tonight

Sure, you’re an expert on The Sunset Strip’s legendary music venues. But did you know that one of our hotels is home to one of the hottest indie music events in town?

This fall the Mondrian hotel partnered with IAMSOUND Records to launch Mondrian Sessions, a unique night of music under the stars. The series, hosted on Skybar’s rooftop pooldeck, provided attendees with an intimate outdoor setting to enjoy music from top indie artists and buzz bands, including The Bird And The Bee, Peter Moren (of Peter, Bjorn and John), Jens Lekman and Yacht. The series proved to be such a success that organizers have decided to bring it back for an encore.

The new series kicks off tonight with a performance by Francis & The Lights and rolls through the spring. The full schedule of upcoming shows includes…

Tom Green @ The Comedy Store

Tom Green @ The Comedy Store

What can you expect at a Tom Green stand-up performance? Prop comedy? Audience ridicule?  Outrageous Jackass-esque stunts? Before the Dec. 29 show began, the bowels of The Belly Room at The Comedy Store were abuzz with speculation and anticipation as to what possible unpredictable antics the shock comic had in store.

Having made his mark hosting/producing MTV’s “The Tom Green Show” and "The New Tom Green Show" during the late ’90s/early 2000s, Green developed a reputation for his too-far-isn’t-far-enough brand of off-color humor; performing over-the-top skits such as drinking from a cow’s teat and pretending to hump a dead moose. It was infamous stunts like these that sent Green’s popularity skyrocketing, but it was also this reputation that explained the reluctance of Comedy Store patrons to sit towards the front of the stage at the launch of Green’s World Stand Up Comedy Tour.

Cheap Date On The Strip With Tuesdae

Cheap Date On The Strip With Tuesdae

Being Bev Hills adjacent and known for some of the best shopping, dining and entertainment in the world has led some to the false conclusion that The Sunset Strip is strictly a playground for the wealthy and well-to-do. Au contraire! Happy hours, meal deals and cheap cocktails abound at some of The Strip’s most happening hot spots every night of the week.

For a little camera pleasing eye candy, and mainly because she knows how to party, Chelsea Girls vocal goddess and professional party girl Tuesdae spent the night walking, dining, drinking and partying on The Sunset Strip with notorious blogger Brent X Mendoza and photographer Genie Sanchez, showing the world that there are discounted cocktails and top-notch cheap eats to be found and that you don’t have to pay to play on The Strip.
