The London West Hollywood Brings Year-round Cheer To The Strip

The London West Hollywood Brings Year-round Cheer To The Strip

We recently stopped by The London Bar to partake in their “London After Five” happy hour, which takes place every Monday through Friday from 5-7 p.m. You can enjoy a menu of $5 cocktails and appetizers, which rotates monthly. The current cocktails include holiday-inspired libations with tastes for the sweet tooth, such as a pecan pie martini (Absolut Vodka Vanilla, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, crushed toasted pecan), eggnog Alexander (eggnog, Xanté cognac) and a BBC (Captain Morgan rum, basil, raspberries and a splash of champagne).

You’ve decked the halls and spiced the cider, now it’s time to walk in a not so wintery wonderland as The Sunset Strip’s restaurants and bars host TweetCrawl VI: Sleigh Bells on Sunset! The signature venue-crawl-meets-social-networking event is taking over the boulevard – jingle bells and all – on Dec. 18.

Participants are encouraged to don their tackiest, most festive holiday sweater as the group carols down The Strip spreading cheer and visiting some favorite spots. Indulge in very merry libations, food and goodies – not to mention a chance to win a bounty of awesome prizes from participating businesses as well as The Roxy Theatre (@theroxy) and Dan Deutsch Optical (@dandeutschoo). Night + Market Lets You Discover Thailand, Without The Checked Bag Fees

Night + Market Lets You Discover Thailand, Without The Checked Bag Fees

Last Thursday, Dec. 2, Night + Market debuted on The Sunset Strip to a packed, and very vibrant, crowd. The newly opened Thai street food restaurant from owner and chef Kris Yenbamroong is the sister to an already standing Talesai, which opened in 1982 by his parents. Yenbamroong took the helm of the Sunset Strip staple a few years ago, and when the space next door to Talesai became available, he knew it would be the ideal location for a new venture.

Night + Market is a late night communal dining spot boasting tapas style plates based on Thai street food items. The menu features favorites like crispy catfish, pork stew and fried chicken wings, all accompanied by a selection of beers from Southeast Asia and wine that can be ordered in “taste” size as well as by the glass or bottle.

The Comedy Store Unleashes Its Ghostly Past

The Comedy Store Unleashes Its Ghostly Past

Opening its doors in 1940, Ciro’s nightclub was the original Sunset Strip hotspot for the who’s who of Tinseltown. Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Cary Grant, Joan Crawford and notorious members of the mob were among those who performed and played here.

So with 70-plus years of storied history – as well as some illicit scandal from the mob days – under its belt, it should be no surprise that the building that now houses the world famous Comedy Store is considered one of the most haunted landmarks in Los Angeles.

On Oct. 8, The Store kicked off a month-long series paying tribute to its specters in residence with “Haunted Midnights.”  Part history lesson, part tour and all laughs, the night had a great balance of spooky Sunset Strip lore and comedic performance.

Cat Club Announces New Upgrades, Adds Legendary Booker Dayle Gloria To Team

Cat Club Announces New Upgrades, Adds Legendary Booker Dayle Gloria To Team

Sunset Strip staple the Cat Club is entering summer with some new and exciting updates. Veteran Hollywood booker Dayle Gloria, best known for breaking bands like Jane’s Addiction at her notorious Scream Club, is set to take the reigns as the Cat Club’s new talent buyer this month. Gloria will work alongside current talent booker Ian Weber and longtime owner Slim Jim Phantom as the club undergoes some changes that include a back patio makeover, and at long last, a website.

“I want it to be like Camden or SoHo,” noted Gloria, a neighborhood spot where people know the doorman and the bartenders, and stop in knowing that there’s going to be quality bands playing.
