Construction Update

The Sunset Strip is getting beautified and anyone who has visited this week may have noticed traffic is moving a little slower.

This week construction crews are replacing concrete bus pads near La Cienega and Sweetzer as part of the Sunset Strip Beautification Project — which also includes repaving the boulevard for the first time in 75 years, replacing damaged sidewalks and making the boulevard more pedestrian friendly. The newly poured concrete pads take seven days to fully dry and harden enough to support the weight of vehicles. This has forced traffic down to one lane in these areas throughout the week.

The closed lanes should reopen this Friday, Feb. 5, letting traffic flow freely this weekend.

Crews are also working on The Strip between the hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The beautification project started in January and is slated to be complete by June. Businesses are open during normal operating hours throughout the construction process.
