You don’t have to travel to the desert for a full lineup of great music and entertainment. Create your own music fest this weekend with a host of live performances on The Strip. Friday, April 16

Local artists Ben Justus, Maureen & Friends, Honeysmash and Magnetico take over the Cat Club. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show is $7, or $5 with a flyer. www.myspace.com/thecatclub

Hip-hop reigns at the Key Club with Da Grizzly, King Precise, Young Hustle of Dipset West, Bad Fly Guy, GNP, Definite the MC and Faze. Try saying it all three times fast in a row. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $12. www.keyclub.com

The Roxy Theatre hosts Early Stand O music showcase early in the evening ($10) followed by New Orleans native PJ Morton with Duanne Turrentine ($15 in advance, $20 at the door). www.theroxyonsunset.com

House of Blues celebrates punk rock with Bad Religion. Youth Brigade rounds out the bill. Doors open at 8:30 and tickets are $22.50 in advance, $25 at the door. www.hob.com

The Comedy Store is bustling with three shows: The Nappy Fro Show in the Main Room at 8:30, 16 Comics in the Original Room at 9 p.m. and the Midnight Comedy Jam. www.thecomedystore.com

Key Club opens its doors at 8 p.m. to welcome pop and R&B outfit The Divine with Lions! Tigers! Bears!, The Good Boys, Ride Your Bike and Homeless With Guns. Tickets are $10. www.keyclub.com
