The wait is finally over!  SSMF week is here!  So call in sick, clear your schedule, and get ready to party because we have a whole week’s worth of officially sanctioned SSMF festivities planned just for you.  Here’s the breakdown…

 

Monday, August 15, Dayle Gloria’s Club With No Name presents: 8 MM, Butcher Babies, Automatique, Me Vs Myself and Pilot Touhill at the Viper Room. Plus DJ Elvis of Warner Drive. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $5. Ages 21 and older. www.viperroom.com Also tonight, The Roxy kicks off SSMF Week with Little Dragon. Doors open at 8 p.m. www.theroxyonsunset.com

 

Check out two big locals shows on Tuesday, August 16, including Scattered Hamlet, Run Devil Run, Gunpowder Secrets, Goldsboro and The Mulhollands at the Key Club (doors 8 p.m., tickets $5, ages 18 and older), and The Roxy’s Mixtape featuring The Green Children, The Bolts, Kyle Nicolaides, Los Einstein, End of Ever, Chloe Pappas, London Shover and Winter Sleep (doors 7 p.m., tickets $10.) www.keyclub.com www.theroxyonsunset.com

 

Attend one of the hottest parties of the week: the opening night of the “Stripped” photo gallery at Talesai on Wednesday, August 17. This is the second year that Sunset Strip photographers have collaborated to provide an extensive exhibit highlighting performances on The Strip throughout the year. The exhibit features the work of Erik Voake, Genie Sanchez, Greg Papazian, Nate Christenson, Dori Savino Lawrence, Jim Donnelly and Jessica Pix. DJ and drink specials round out the night. Party starts at 7 p.m. RSVP and get all the info.

 

Don’t fret if you aren’t on the list to attend SSMF Tribute to Mötley Crüe this Thursday night, there’s still so much to do! Dirty Beaches will be performing a poolside set at the Skybar from 9-10 p.m. Entrance is free, but RSVP required to mondrianlasessions@morganhotelgroup.com. SSMF shows include Uriah Heep at Key Club, Nico Vega at The Roxy with special guests Eastern Conference Champions, The Veronicas at the Viper Room and The Faceless at the Whisky. Friday, August 19, is packed with tons of SSMF-related events and shows. Check out LOL-Apalooza at The Comedy Store, Motion City Soundtrack at House of Blues, Dredg at Key Club, Buckcherry at The Roxy, Lady Sinatra and Purple Melon at the Viper Room, and the hottest ticket in town, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors at the Whisky. Those ages 21 and older can also stop by the Jack Daniel’s Experience outdoor stage at 8950 Sunset Boulevard (next to Hustler), for live performances by The Mowgli’s, Holland Greco, Megan Jacobs, Of Verona and Goodnight Noises. Did you hear we have a street festival? Motley Crue, Bush, Public Enemy, Matt & Kim, Escape The Fate, The Dirty Heads, Cobra Starship, She Wants Revenge, Black Veil Brides, Tribal Seeds, Voxhaul Broadcast, Deluka, Rye Rye, Pigeon John, Felix Cartal, Semi Precious Weapons and more are shutting down the boulevard to give us live performances throughout the day on outdoor stages and in the Key Club, The Roxy and Whisky. There will be outdoor stages, autograph tent, beer gardens, VIP rooftop lounge, food trucks, Jack Daniel’s Experience, comedians and performances in the Key Club, The Roxy Theatre and the Whisky throughout the day!
