Goodbye To A Dear Friend

Goodbye To A Dear Friend

This weekend The Sunset Strip lost one its most beloved personalities with the passing of Tony Nassimi, the owner and operator of Terner’s Liquor for more than 30 years. Nassimi, whose landmark store served as the proverbial “well in the center of town,” was a Strip staple that locals, visiting bands and club-goers would stop in to visit, regardless of whether or not they had provisions to purchase.

Need Some Costume Inspiration? Parties At The Rainbow, Hustler Get Everyone In The Holiday Spirit

Halloween, aside from being just another reason to party, play tricks on people, overload your blood stream with candy, honor the dead or celebrate the harvest can be the ideal time to step outside of yourself and party in someone else’s shoes for the night! Dress up as your favorite movie star, your alter ego or a character from your wildest dreams. Halloween is the one day anyone can make their dreams or nightmares a reality.

Both the Rainbow and Hustler had festive costume parties on Wednesday night, with some of the more notable costumes including a ghoul, Maverick from Top Gun and a French maid corpse. Hot costume ideas this also include the ever-popular animal mask and lingerie (i.e. “kittens in bikinis”), celebrity look-a-likes and when in doubt, just add wigs and some fake blood.
What is your costume pick this year?

TheSunsetStrip.com Exclusive Interview: Patrick Stump

This past Monday, Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump stopped by the Viper Room for a special open to the public industry showcase. The sold-out, heavily media attended performance was enthusiastically received by the intimate crowd as Stump performed songs from his much anticipated solo debut Soul Punk.

Days before his triumphant return to The Sunset Strip, Stump phoned in from the road to discuss his forthcoming solo endeavor, his heartbreak over harsh fan criticisms, and the ever burning question, “What’s the future of Fall Out Boy?”

Duff McKagan Hits The Books

Duff McKagan Hits The Books

Last week, one of The Sunset Strip’s most beloved players, Duff McKagan, hit the books at a signing and discussion hosted by famed literary rock n’ roll establishment Book Soup.

Addressing an audience of Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver fans whose ages ranged from 6 years old to 60, McKagan proved that his talent continues to influence a new generation of rockers and ultimate fans. The bassist/actor/columnist/author engaged the audience with stories and a discussion of his new “no holds barred” memoir It’s So Easy: And Other Lies, before taking questions from the crowd.

Book Soup has lined up an all star list of book signings and discussions in the next two weeks, including writer/director Oliver Stone (Oct. 22), Def Jam Recordings 25th anniversary discussion with authors Bill Adler and Cey Adams (Oct. 23) and musician/writer Henry Rollins (Oct. 27).

Get Pret’Tea In Pink For A Cause

Get Pret’Tea In Pink For A Cause

Sure, you wear a black leather jacket and may or may not have a few tattoos in undisclosed locations, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have a softer side. You like to break stereotypes and enjoy the refinement of afternoon tea, charitable events and references to ’80s brat pack films, which is why you’ve already made your reservation for Pret’Tea in Pink afternoon tea service at The London West Hollywood’s Boxwood Café.

Throughout the month of October, you can sip your tea knowing that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to What A Pair!, a nonprofit organization benefitting breast cancer research. The dine-for-a-cause menu includes a selection of teas, cakes and desserts (raspberry truffles, pink rose macaron), a selection of miniature savory canapés and tea sandwiches, freshly baked scones and a glass of sparkling rose.

Moby’s Artsy Book Signing At Book Soup

Moby’s Artsy Book Signing At Book Soup

Last week electronic music artist, restauranteur and vegan Moby stopped by The Sunset Strip’s very own Book Soup for a signing of his new multimedia project, Destroyed.
Ever the innovator, the musical guru’s most recent endeavor pairs his new record with a companion book of photographs crafted during the wee hours of world tour insomnia.
"This album, and the pictures that accompany it was primarily written late at night in cities when I felt like I was the only person awake (or alive)," noted Moby. "A soundtrack for empty cities at 2 a.m."
