Sunset Strip Picks: SSMF 2010 Edition

Sunset Strip Picks: SSMF 2010 Edition

Besides the big name headliners like The Smashing Pumpkins and Slash, there are more than 50 other bands scheduled to appear at this year’s Sunset Strip Music Festival. With enough music to make your eardrums swell, trying to decide which bands to catch can be a daunting task. To help quell your festival fears, here is a list of 10 finer print bands worth checking out.

BILLY BOY ON POISON – Signed to Kiefer Sutherland’s label Ironworks Music, these four young lads are taking the music world by storm with soulful rock n’ roll jams that sound like the back catalogue of seasoned vets twice their age. Having already opened for the likes of Jet, Stone Temple Pilots, and Weezer, better catch this band while they’re still willing to step foot on a club stage.  Whisky A Go-Go, Saturday, August 28, 6:30 p.m.

Re-Opening The Sunset Strip!

Re-Opening The Sunset Strip!

The Sunset Strip gathered the troops yesterday to celebrate the completition of the Sunset Strip Beautification Project and the offical grand re-opening of the newly renovated boulevard! The seven month Beautification Project included such improvements as repaving the boulevard for the first time in 75 years, repairing and expanding sidewalks and crosswalks to enhance the pedestrian experience and planting new trees along the 1.6 mile stretch.

The celebration included a ribbon cutting by West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman, Mayor Pro Tempore John Durran and Councilmember Abbe Land and classic car parade officially opening the boulevard. GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip also launched last night, providing visitors and locals alike with yet another reason to visit and walk the legendary boulevard. www.gibson.com/sunset-strip

As if this year’s massive onslaught of talent wasn’t enough to get your hybrid engine revved, now you can feel good about being a responsible eco-citizen as you rock out to your favorite band at this year’s 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival.

Spearheaded by our friends at Honest Tea, the nation’s top-selling organic bottled tea company, this year’s street fest is committed to reducing The Strip’s carbon footprint with some environmentally-friendly features, such as clean solar energy, additional recycling bins, and waterless urinals.

Thanks to Honest Tea’s relationships with other likeminded brands, including Akeena Solar, C&L Supply Company, Dyson and Further Products, the 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival will include the following “honest” additions:
