Construction Update: April 27-May 3

Construction Update: April 27-May 3

Construction on The Sunset Strip is not as intensive this week, but a lane will be closed in each direction between Alta Loma and San Vicente, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please remember that all businesses will be open during their normal business hours, and we encourage you to support your local businesses during construction.

This week crews will continue to fix sidewalks and curbs between Alta Loma Road and San Vicente Boulevard. Work includes taking out the broken or damaged concrete and replacing it with new sidewalk. Crews will also install ramps that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) at the street corners.

Crews are steam cleaning and pressure washing the sidewalks in the mornings from 6-10 a.m. when there are less people on the sidewalks. The cleaning will continue block by block.

Celebrating The Earth In Style

Celebrating The Earth In Style

Looking for a different way to celebrate Earth Day? Stop by ADCB or SkyBar at the Mondrian and help them reach their goal of planting 1,000 new trees by the end of the month. And by ‘help’ we mean order a round of “Treetinis.” Mondrian has partnered with VeeV Acai Spirit to create the $12 enviro-martini, which is comprised of VeeV Acai Spirit, agave nectar, fresh lime and mint. And for every cocktail purchased, a new tree will be planted. Not a bad way to help the environment. Cocktail available through the end of April. www.mondrianhotel.com

Construction Update: April 20-26

Construction Update: April 20-26

We are another week closer to the finished Sunset Strip Beautification Project! Please remember that all businesses are open during their normal business hours, and we encourage you to support your local businesses during construction.

Last week crews finished the construction of bus pads on the north side of Sunset Boulevard. This week they will work to replace remaining bus pads on the south side of Sunset. The process includes pouring new concrete in the affected areas. While the concrete is hardening, no cars can drive on it. Because of this, traffic will be reduced down to one lane in the Eastbound direction, 24 hours a day for the entire week.

The City has made adjustments to have the concrete harden faster to allow for traffic to drive on it sooner. The lanes are expected to be reopened to traffic at the end of the week. Commuters are encouraged to plan for extra time to get through the area.
