On Dec. 14, the Key Club hosted one of the biggest "must attend" shows of the year: the 2011 Dimebash, a tribute to that big pink beard in the sky that is Dimebag Darrel of Pantera. One of heavy metal’s favorite sons, Dimebag’s life was celebrated once again with an homage to the metal god who passed in 2004. This shred for the dead party was chock full of of metal heads and a who’s-who list of big name metal performances.

Sorry to bust some myths, but The Sunset Strip does boast more than a few affordable parking options. The City of West Hollywood launched the newest public parking lot on Dec. 22. Located at 9056 Sunset Boulevard, on the southeast corner of Sunset Boulevard and Doheny Drive, and is in close walking proximity to the Key Club, Talesai, Rainbow Bar & Grill and The Roxy Theatre. The lot is open daily from 8 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. with rates of $1 per hour.

One of the most influential and pivotal keyboard players in rock music, Ray Manzarek has continuously performed in one incarnation or another since co-founding The Doors in 1965.
 
On his new collaborative effort with guitarist/producer Roy Rogers, Manzarek continues doing what he does best: pounding out bluesy, jazz-inspired key riffs, accompanied by the words of America’s great modern day existential poets. Manzarek shared the stories behind this new collection of songs, reminisced about his early days with Jim Morrison and The Doors on The Sunset Strip and explained the term “chicken wing.”

West Hollywood Gives Back!

Get into the holiday spirit on Saturday, Dec. 3 by giving back to your community during West Hollywood’s charity and volunteer drive.
The City of West Hollywood’s  "WeHo Drive!" is a rolling event that provides information about volunteer opportunities for the 2012 Martin Luther Day of Service. Saturday’s event will also give individuals the chance to donate important items that will help underserved members of the community. Toys, children’s books and non-perishable food items will be collected to help feed the hungry and help support local families during the holiday season.
Stations will also be set up so guests can write letters and send thank you cards to members of the military and veterans. The WeHo Drive! will be open from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the new West Hollywood Library (624 N. San Vicente Blvd.) One hour free parking is available onsite.
