Sunset Strip Music Festival Draws 30,000 Visitors To The Sunset Strip

The third annual Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) took over the legendary boulevard Aug. 26-28, 2010. The three-day event was a spectacular success, drawing 30,000 people to The Strip. Featuring full nights of music at The Strip’s six legendary music venues, the festival culminated with an all-day street festival on Saturday, Aug. 28, with 13,000 attendees flocking to The Strip to see performances by The Smashing Pumpkins; Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and Fergie; Common; Kid Cudi; Travie McCoy; Neon Trees; Steel Panther; Semi Precious Weapons; Saint Motel; Big B; and a host of more than 70 local and national artists performing within the venues.

Shop, Sample and Dance: West Hollywood Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out on Friday, Sept. 10

Designers, celebrities, models and fashion editors will stage exciting, one-of-a-kind events for Fashion’s Night Out in West Hollywood stores on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 from 6 – 10 p.m. Fashion’s Night Out is a global initiative, celebrated in more than a dozen cities around the world. It was created by Vogue magazine to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy and put the fun back in shopping.

“Fashion’s Night Out allows us to highlight all of the great fashion oriented businesses in the City of West Hollywood,” said West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman. “We have great designers, great retailers and cutting edge stylists in West Hollywood. We are lucky to have so many fantastic, creative businesses.”

The Sunset Strip is celebrating the completion of the Sunset Strip Beautification Project on Aug. 12, and you are invited to join! The celebration includes the official launch of Gibson GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip — a public arts project that will feature more than 25 ten-foot tall fiberglass Gibson Les Paul model guitars strategically placed on the legendary Sunset Strip — as well as a  Block Party!

GuitarTown Sunset Strip Launching August 12 With A Block Party!

The Sunset Strip Business Association and Gibson, in partnership with the City of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau, are pleased to announce the official unveiling of GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip is set for Thursday, August 12 from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. GuitarTown is a public art project that features 26 ten-foot tall fiberglass Gibson Les Paul model guitars. The oversized Gibson guitar sculptures were created by local and nationally-acclaimed visual artists, with each guitar sculpture celebrating a musician, personality, or influential moment unique to The Sunset Strip’s history and Gibson Guitar. The guitars will be strategically placed along the 1.6-mile Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.

SSMF Adds Kid Cudi, Travie McCoy To Aug. 28 Street Fest Lineup!

The third annual Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) set for Aug. 26-28, 2010, has finalized its 2010 outdoor lineup for the Saturday, August 28 street closure with the additions of hip-hop breakthrough artist KID CUDI and TRAVIE MCCOY, whose hit single “Billionaire” has been No. 3 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart and a top 5 Billboard Hot 100 track in recent weeks. Performing on two stages are headliners THE SMASHING PUMPKINS; 2010 honoree SLASH featuring MYLES KENNEDY and an appearance by FERGIE; COMMON; SEMI PRECIOUS WEAPONS; STEEL PANTHER; NEON TREES; BIG B and more.
 
For the second time in The Strip’s illustrious history, the street will close to traffic between San Vicente Boulevard and Doheny Drive so thousands of fans can experience a diverse sonic extravaganza of rock, hip-hop, rap, electro and more.
