Cheech & Chong To Light Up The Strip Again

Cheech & Chong To Light Up The Strip Again

Cheech & Chong are returning to The Sunset Strip on Tuesday, Nov. 16 to sign a larger-than-life art guitar created to celebrate the internationally comedy duo. The painted guitar is one of 26 10-foot replicas placed along The Strip as part of the Gibson GuitarTown public art project. The signing will take place at 2 p.m. outside of The Roxy Theatre.

The guitar was designed by artist Margaret Garcia to celebrate the successful careers of the duo, both on stage and off, who got their start performing in West Hollywood’s The Troubadour as well as The Roxy Theatre (which was featured in “Up In Smoke”) and The Comedy Store. Each side of the guitar is dedicated to a portrait of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. The guitar also pays tribute to The Sunset Strip’s role in developing comedy as well as music.

The Lost Boys Ball @ House of Blues

The Lost Boys Ball @ House of Blues

“Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It’s fun to be a vampire." That’s the tagline for the film The Lost Boys, the original vampire pop culture phenomenon about two brothers who are convinced their new town is ruled by toothy, blood-thirsty villains. The film drove teens into theaters across the country during in 1987 and helped define the formative years of many socially awkward high school misfits.

The Lost Boys’ portrayal of adolescent rebellion (in its most carnal form) has remained relevant enough to subsequent generations that more than 20 years after the picture’s release, the cult classic can warrant an entire evening celebrating its influence, characters and music.

Photographers Celebrate Community, Art & Music With “Stripped” Exhibit

Have you ever dreamed of being on stage with Slash, backstage at The Roxy Theatre or front and center performing in front of thousands of people during the Sunset Strip Music Festival? Luckily for you, a host of photographers is bringing this experience directly to you as part of their "Stripped: A Collection of Photographs from The Sunset Strip" exhibit.
Initially launched  during the Sunset Strip Music Festival in August, the exhibit showcases the collective works of those who have documented and captured concerts and life on The Sunset Strip during the past four decades. And the exhibit doesn’t just celebrate amazing performances by legendary artists like Ozzy Osbourne, Jay-Z and Slash, but more importantly, it illustrates the new sense of community and artistic camaraderie on The Strip.
