Add Prix Fixe To Your Vocabulary: Restaurant Week Is Here!

Add Prix Fixe To Your Vocabulary: Restaurant Week Is Here!

Get your appetites ready – it’s time for DineLA Restaurant Week! The sixth season runs Jan. 23-28 and Jan. 30-Feb. 4, with specially-priced three-course prix fixe lunches and dinners at restaurants throughout West Hollywood and Los Angeles County. This year more than 300 restaurants across the city have chosen to partake, which has landed this newest installment the distinction of being the largest restaurant week in the country, yowza!

Before we get to the good stuff, and as a reminder for most, here’s how it all works:

Almost exactly as the last go-around, restaurants around town will offer special prix fixe lunch and dinner sets. Lunch menus are priced at $16, $22 or $28, while dinner costs $26, $34 or $44. Of course, the pricier the meal option, the more likely you’ll land some foie gras, shaved truffle or some other fancy-shmancy ingredient situation.

Cheap Date On The Strip With Tuesdae

Cheap Date On The Strip With Tuesdae

Being Bev Hills adjacent and known for some of the best shopping, dining and entertainment in the world has led some to the false conclusion that The Sunset Strip is strictly a playground for the wealthy and well-to-do. Au contraire! Happy hours, meal deals and cheap cocktails abound at some of The Strip’s most happening hot spots every night of the week.

For a little camera pleasing eye candy, and mainly because she knows how to party, Chelsea Girls vocal goddess and professional party girl Tuesdae spent the night walking, dining, drinking and partying on The Sunset Strip with notorious blogger Brent X Mendoza and photographer Genie Sanchez, showing the world that there are discounted cocktails and top-notch cheap eats to be found and that you don’t have to pay to play on The Strip.

The current cocktails include holiday-inspired libations with tastes for the sweet tooth, such as a pecan pie martini (Absolut Vodka Vanilla, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, crushed toasted pecan), eggnog Alexander (eggnog, Xanté cognac) and a BBC (Captain Morgan rum, basil, raspberries and a splash of champagne).

Night + Market Lets You Discover Thailand, Without The Checked Bag Fees

Night + Market Lets You Discover Thailand, Without The Checked Bag Fees

Last Thursday, Dec. 2, Night + Market debuted on The Sunset Strip to a packed, and very vibrant, crowd. The newly opened Thai street food restaurant from owner and chef Kris Yenbamroong is the sister to an already standing Talesai, which opened in 1982 by his parents. Yenbamroong took the helm of the Sunset Strip staple a few years ago, and when the space next door to Talesai became available, he knew it would be the ideal location for a new venture.

Night + Market is a late night communal dining spot boasting tapas style plates based on Thai street food items. The menu features favorites like crispy catfish, pork stew and fried chicken wings, all accompanied by a selection of beers from Southeast Asia and wine that can be ordered in “taste” size as well as by the glass or bottle.
